On the Fly in Winter

As winter sets in my mind wanders at the workplace and I contemplate how to design a better winter nymph. I often find myself sketching the idea for a fly far before the actual work begins at the tying desk.  This makes the process of creating a successful fly much easier and far more enjoyable. Pictured here is the sketched prototype and the final product of what I would deem the "Grizzly Hackle Special."
